Tree Pavilion Exhibit
Opened to the public on Earth Day, 2016, the DCM’s Tree Pavilion quickly became a cornerstone of the museum and its commitment to environmental stewardship and education.
Tree Pavilion is a 350 year-old Sycamore tree, measuring 7.5 feet wide and tall and 21 feet long. Originally from Alapocas Woods here in Wilmington, the tree was lovingly preserved by resident Dave Macleod. The tree was completely debarked, sanded, hollowed out and treated to leave a perfectly preserved “tree shell”.
Visitors are encouraged to climb through the tree, feel its smooth texture, and marvel at its size and beauty, all while learning about the importance of trees to us!
Tree Pavilion provides the perfect photo op for your family!
