    Privacy Policy

The Delaware Children’s Museum (referred to as “DCM” or “we” or “us”) knows that you care how information about you is used and shared. DCM appreciates your trust and we at DCM are dedicated to protecting your privacy and will try to handle any personal information we obtain from you with care and respect. Our information collection practices and privacy policy are described below. It is DCM’s policy to create website content that requires minimum collection of information from our visitors. Registration is not required to access any information or participate in any activities on our site, and you can surf through most areas of our site without providing any personally identifiable information (such as name, address, e-mail address, or telephone number) about yourself. DCM does not condition a child’s participation in any of our online activities on the disclosure of more information than is reasonably necessary to participate in the activity.

DCM is committed to complying fully with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). COPPA requires that we inform parents and legal guardians about if and how we collect, use, and disclose personal information from children under 13 years of age, and that if such information is collected, we obtain the consent of parents and guardians in order for children under 13 years of age to use certain features of the DCM Site. Below we explain how DCM addresses this. We urge children under 13 years of age to check with their parents before entering information on any website and we urge parents to discuss with their children restrictions regarding the online submission of personal information to anyone they don’t know.

By visiting delawarechildrensmuseum.org, you are accepting the practices described in this Privacy Policy and under the Terms of Use of the DCM Site.

    What Information Is Collected?

    Personal Information

You may, at your option, provide certain information, including personally identifiable information via the DCM Site. You may choose to provide additional information as well. Additionally, we provide a phone number and postal address for communications.

DCM only collects personally identifiable information from our visitors who are 13 years of age or older, when it is voluntarily disclosed, such as to sign up for memberships, donate to the museum, ask questions, or to receive our electronic newsletter. DCM does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13 years of age.

E-mails and e-mail addresses that you send to us are stored in confidential databases with limited access. DCM may sometimes automatically respond to inquiries and transactions you submit.

    Use and Disclosure of Information

In general, we use the personally identifiable information that is voluntarily provided to us solely for the purposes for which it is provided. DCM currently does not disclose to third parties personally identifiable information that visitors provide, except in some cases, where it may be necessary for us to share the information you provide to us with third parties that perform certain services on our behalf (such as sending e-mail newsletters or processing credit card orders) and that have agreed to maintain the confidentiality, security, and integrity of your information.

Non-personal information or aggregate information may be used to analyze data regarding your website visit to help us create a better experience for you. Such aggregate information does not contain personally identifiable information.

DCM is not in the business of selling information about our visitors to other individuals or organizations. However, DCM may disclose personally identifiable information to third parties in order to comply with law or requests by law enforcement agencies, to enforce our Terms and Conditions or to protect the rights, property or safety of the DCM Site, users of the DCM Site and others, which may include exchanging information with other companies and organizations for fraud protection and credit risk reduction.
