Good afternoon DCM family and friends.
The Delaware Children’s Museum cares about the safety, health, and wellness of our community, guests, and staff. We are a learning institution that is also committed to transparency and communication.
We have sought and will continue to seek the advice of many community leaders in Delaware and throughout the country regarding the spread of the Coronavirus. Based on the guidelines offered by Governor Carney, medical professionals, community leaders, museum/non-profit directors; DCM’s leadership has made the difficult decision:
The Delaware Children’s Museum will close to the public today March 13th at 3:00 pm until further notice.
We ask for patience and understanding during this unprecedented time. We cannot predict the size of our crowds. Our visiting audience is comprised of people of all ages and abilities, from all over the country; and we feel a deep sense of commitment to their wellbeing.
It is our hope that by making this decision we can help to “flatten the curve” and help to protect our staff and our neighbors. By changing patterns, we hope that we can help to make a positive impact regarding the spread of the Coronavirus. We appreciate your continued support and well wishes.
Both full time and part-time staff will utilize this time to work on projects and try to complete our long, never ending “to do” lists. We will take the opportunity to deep clean and deep sanitize restrooms and exhibits. We will plan, prep, and get ready for when we see one another at the DCM again! Please check social media posts and our website for updates.
In the meantime, we will be posting activities and recipes that adults and kids can safely and easily do. The DCM is known for our resourcefulness and will be sharing our ideas on fun things to do at home. We encourage all our friends to continue to learn and play together!
Peace and play to you and yours,
Jen Bush, Executive Director
